Jessie Lee Martinez, 27, lost his battle with Spinal Muscular Atrophy on March 8, 2021 and died from complications due to this disease at Doctors Hospital at Renaissance in Edinburg. He was born April 10, 1993 in McAllen, TX to Jessica Martinez and Narciso Urbano Morales.
Jessie was a unique soul, both inside and out, and unforgettable to anyone who was fortunate enough to meet him. He was a son, brother, grandson, and nephew—but above all else, a warrior. He was put in a body that was too weak for his spirit, but now his spirit can run free. The middle child of three, Jessie graduated from Donna High School in 2012 to the cheers of many friends and family that had supported him throughout his educational journey. Anyone that knew Jessie knew his number one passion was video games, Japanese anime, and talking about video games and Japanese anime.
He is survived by his parents sister Lizette Mariel Morales, brother Lorenzo Peña, maternal grandparents Mary Helen Martinez and Mario Martinez, maternal great-grandparents Tomas and Raquel Martinez, Paternal grand parents Narciso Morales, and Adelina Reyes uncles Ernesto “Ernie” (Ana) Cruz, Mario (Linda) Martinez, Jr., Daniel Morales, aunts Criselda Martinez, Mariana Martinez, Marie (Eric) Masten, Angelica Morales, and numerous cousins and great cousins. He is preceded in death by great-grandparents Lorenzo and Maria De La Paz Hernandez, cousin Alex Ballesteros, and aunt Natalia Morales.
Jessie made so many wonderful friends over the years and was cherished by his family members. There is not one day he will not be thought of by the people who loved him.
