Marcela (Arjona) Rodriguez

Marcela A. Rodriguez, daughter of Guadalupe Arjona and Teresa Arguello, passed away on Wednesday, May 3, at home surrounded by her family. She was 95 years old. She is survived by her daughters, Leticia Ozuna and Rosalinda Ramirez, four grandchildren: Gabriel, Olivia, Rene, and Alyssa; and a sister, Rosa Maria Arjona. She is preceded in death by her husband, Isaias Rodriguez, and her nine brothers and sisters.

Marcela was born in the community of Val Verde near Donna, Texas, in 1927. She spent her early years at her family’s ranch at Las Delicias on the outskirts of General Teran in Nuevo Leon, Mexico. Later, she moved to Brownsville to work; while there, she met and married Isaias Rodriguez and started a family. They spent a few years working as migrant laborers in California before moving to Donna and building a home. She is remembered as a supportive wife and a loving mother and grandmother. Marcela was a faithful servant of God and instilled that faith and love of God into her children and grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at Vaughan Funeral Home in Donna, Texas. A viewing is scheduled for Monday, May 8th, from 3 PM to 9 PM, with a service at 7 PM. The funeral will take place on Tuesday, May 9th, at 8 AM, with burial to follow at Val Verde Memorial Gardens.
